Didactic activity


In response to the dynamic changes in the environment the university is constantly improv-ing and adapting its educational offer to the needs of the Polish Armed Forces, military environment and the civilian labor market.

The University focuses its teaching and education on the three areas:

  • education and training of officers in the framework of the system of professional development of professional soldiers,
  • education of civilian students for the defence and security needs,
  • training and education of the representatives of public administration in the scope of defence and state security.

The priority in teaching - both with students military and civilian, is a focus on the latest science about safety, the science of defense and the Polish and world art of war. WSU graduates have a modern knowledge and are well prepared to carry out tasks in the military structures, public administration and institutions related to security and defense on the national and international levels. Inherent in education is also shaping attitudes and patriotic upbringing in a spirit of respect for the Polish military traditions.

Education civilian in first, second and third degree and postgraduate lead three academic departments, supported by research centers and training centers. Doctoral programs are implemented in the social sciences, in two disciplines: science of security and defense sciences.

In the area of education of students on civil defense and security needs University has gained a significant position in the education market, which is reflected widespread interest in studies, despite the demographic decline. Measures aimed at universities to ensure that its graduates possessed modern knowledge and were well prepared for the tasks awaiting them, aspired to the role of leaders in their communities and evinced concern for the security of the state and the region. In addition, to participate in the dissemination of new solutions in the field of organizational and technical, socio-economic development and the spread of knowledge about security and defense, as well as former professionals in the military and non-military structures of the national security system.

Perspective is also planned to run another course of study in the field of command as an offer to improve the knowledge, skills and qualifications mainly by students in uniform and representatives of defense associations.

ERASMUS +

Another distinct part of foreign cooperation of the War Studies University is the Erasmus+ Program. On the basis of the University Erasmus Card and with a constantly growing budget (which scholarships are paid from), the University allows its students to take up studies (from 3 to 12 months) and internships (from 2 to 12 months) in foreign universities and other part-ner institutions.

Under the Erasmus + Program, academic teachers conduct classes with students abroad and all university employees can gain new experience during study tours. One of the remarkable University’s achievements is establishing and commissioning nine thematic modules set up by faculties, they are: Strategy and Security, International Security Law and Cultural Compe-tence, Contemporary International Order, Security Studies,  International Security, Information Security,  Logistics, Organization Management, Aviation Management. Each module includes 7-8 subjects taught in English, their completion is rewarded with obtaining ECTS points.
Education and thinking about strategic security environment are indispensable attributes  to a well-functioning  nation. One of the most essential elements in the system of defensive education for the University is conducting Postgraduate Defence Courses,  Defence Policy Studies and Crisis Management Studies which are to prepare professionals managing the country for the most important functions in public administration, which undoubtedly is to shape national security.

The courses are carried out in accordance with the program agreed with the Ministry of Defence, including in particular issues: policies and conditions of national security, the national security strategy, rules of functioning of the state during external threat its security and war, civil-military cooperation and the functioning of the national defense system and its components.

MILITARY COURSES

The War Studies University is the most important element in the country's system of training officers, especially in the system of preparation and training of staff of command, from the staff and logistics. Provide learning opportunities and improve officers Armed Forces, and other military officers of NATO through the study of all levels of command: tactical, operational and strategic. An innovative approach to training officers at the WSU, which determines the fulfillment of the expectations of the Polish Armed Forces, close cooperation at the stage of amendment of programs and their implementation with the leadership of the Ministry of Defence, the General Staff of the Polish Army and units of the armed forces. The tasks of the system of training officers Armed Forces Military Department performs, the potential of which primarily consists of academics who are in active service, characterized by the high quality preparation of both theoretical and practical. Implemented teaching process support experienced commanders of units, high-class specialists, as well as experts and representatives of national institutions and for-eign related to defense and national security.

In the process of improvement of professional soldiers in the Academy, the essential forms of education are postgraduate courses and taking into account the levels of command. Qualification courses provide opportunities to increase skills and complement the knowledge and skills to the position held official or proposed to take. Training for this type of courses is focused primarily on development of practical skills (training, demonstrations, practical classes). Development courses are designed for students who want to improve their skills not only in the command post, but also in related areas: the law, social communi-cation, personal activities, me-international humanitarian law in armed conflicts and others.

Daily postgraduate studies of command and staff character:

Postgraduate Defence Policy Studies (PDPS) is a two-semester studies for outstanding senior officers, expected to take up top positions in institutions and units of the Polish Armed Forces. Issues discussed during the study include advanced knowledge of the art of war, strategy, defense policy of the state, conducting joint operations, organization, command systems and the planning and conduct of operations peacekeeping and crisis response.

Postgraduate Operational-Tactical Studies (POTS) lasting four semesters, they are de-signed for officers planned to appoint to the position of corporate downgraded to the level of full-time Major, the vertical division's leadership and a staff-level strategic and tactical op-erating in the country and abroad. The aim of the study is to deepen students' knowledge in the area of national security, martial arts, planning and conduct of operations and training at the tactical and strategic and operational, taking into account the specifics of the armed forces and types of forces in the activities of national and multinational. The knowledge transferred in the course of study is to prepare students to take up positions in the body of the senior officers and most of all the functions of command and staff officer to the com-mands of tactical and strategic and operational level of command. According to the plans, graduates of these studies will be entitled to receive the title of a military officer certified the Polish Armed Forces.

Postgraduate Studies of Military Foreign Service (PSMFS), are a necessary step in improving the professional competence addressed to a group of people, which are provided for execution of the mission beyond the borders of our country. In the process of education officers acquire knowledge and practical skills of effective functioning abroad, in the inter-national environment and the proper fulfillment of tasks set before them in the country. Earned through graduate qualifications will enable them to smooth functioning of the world, as well as helping to increase the prestige of the Polish Army and the Polish Republic in in-ternational opinion.

Specialized courses dedicated military and civilian cadres of the system of state security and emergency services are also carried out by the CBRN Defence Training Center. The center supports other basic organizational units of the University in the teaching process studies (including studies) and courses in the area of widely understood chemical, biological and radiological annually by training several hundred people.

The modern and constantly evolving database of teaching and cooperation with military units for training of practical, allow the use of innovative solutions and implement unique in the country classes corresponding to the evolving needs of the Armed Forces, including the Territorial Defence, the organization proobronnych and reserve personnel troops chemicals.

As part of the ongoing forms of professional soldiers Academy organizes and provide specialized e-learning courses and conducts part of the initial courses of improvement and quali-fication in the form of e-learning courses. Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) is a form of organization of educational process, whose distinguishing feature is that they are conducted with the use of multimedia, information technology and the Internet. It is also assisting, diversifying teaching new information and communication technologies. It does not have to involve a long-term process of creating courses may rely on the use of a single, ready-medium lectures or workshops.
